Pick of the week can be a movie, new or old, a book, a poem, a song, an article...really anything related to the arts that might entertain us or light a fire in our bellies.
Ladies, are you tired of being inconvenienced by your period? As usual, drug companies have your back.
Check out a hilarious skit from “Saturday Night Live” that spoofs drug ads—specifically the birth control pill Seasonale, which lets you skip your period if you like. Both sexes will howl at laughter at this must-see mockumercial and appreciate the content in different ways.
Of course, in all great humor there is a kernel of truth. The fact is that Big Pharma spends 5 billion dollars (yes, billion!) on drug ads every year to convince us to pop more pills. Where does that money come from? The answer is your pocket. The pharmaceutical industry passes the cost of those ads right back onto you, the consumer, every time you buy medication. (And many of these “latest and greatest” (and expensive!) pills have questionable safety and efficacy track records…think Vioxx.)
So remember, every time you see a drug ad on TV, you have the right—no, duty—to be hopping mad. But first, laugh a little and check out our Pick of the Week. Then pass it on!
