The Kaiser Family Foundation reports that kids are spending an average of 53 hours per week plugged into an electronic medium (that’s a full time job) and it’s robbing them of outdoor time and a happy, healthy and creative future. Even when they are outside, it’s usually in the form of organized sports—which are great for getting them moving (if you can avoid the concession stands)—but does little to allow for unplanned time in nature and the inspiration, appreciation and joy that bursts forth with it.
In this powerful show Kathleen and her guest, author Richard Louv (Last Child in the Woods), talk about the impact on our kids as individuals and the future of the planet. (They are the future voters and caretakers and if they don’t give a damn…we’re in trouble.)
