Kickstart a national discussion on social business

February 2nd, 2011

Can we raise $50,000 in 3 months?

Can tackling social problems like poor health care, lack of education and poverty become successful, ethical business ventures? Can we combine the best of capitalism with the toughest problems facing the planet to create powerful change?  Bonsai, a new film by Holly Mosher that focuses on the work of Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus will set out to show that not only is it possible, it’s happening. And she wants to spread the word. That’s where you come in…

For the next three months, The Kathleen Show is helping in her mission to raise $50,000 through Kickstarter (a fantastic fundraising platform). If all $50,000 is raised, Holly will use the funds for a nationwide screening and speaking tour that will take the inspiring stories shown in Bonsai on the road to start a national dialogue about the power of microcredit and social business to change the world.

If we don’t raise $50,000, she doesn’t get any of it. It’s all or nothing. So we’re asking for everybody’s help to make this project a reality. Share the video below on Facebook or Twitter, make a donation (there are perks!), or help spread the word in any way you can. And if all goes well, hopefully Bonsai will be coming to a city near you next year.  Take a peek below to find out more about Holly’s project:

So why this project? Why Holly? In addition to being my co-producer on Side Effects and Money Talks as well as my business partner, Holly is an award-winning filmmaker and dear friend who has spent the last four years making this project a reality. She is a rainmaker whose life and work serves the world and inspires others to burn brighter.  And I know that all of you who tune in to the show each week would find value in Bonsai, which has the potential to make a huge difference for those less fortunate than us.
