  1. Emily Clay says:

Hello Kathleen, Your point about sugar is valid to a certain degree. Why start with OJ? Obviously the sugar in fruit is much better for your body to assimilate, so it would have been good to end on this note (if you need sugar let it be the naturally occuring sugars in fruit or vegetables). I actually get low blood sugar quite easily and I rarely eat sugar (the refined white stuff). It doesn’t look good to me. My exception is chocolate, but I prefer dark. The main thing is that it acts like a poison to spike blood sugar levels and then you drop, and behaviors can be extreme as well. I also don’t eat desserts since sugar after a meal can ferment in the stomach. Plus they don’t digest well leading to gaining weight. The main culprit is corn sugar which doesn’t digest well at all and is in most processed foods. I don’t allow it in my house at all. I like your overall message, but since you don’t give enough relevant facts, the information can be misleading. Thanks for trying though.

  2. Chris Kammer says:

How about xylitol instead? It starves the bad bacteria in your mouth and decreases it by 90% with continual use over 6 months. Makes it almost impossible to get tooth decay. It tastes delicious, is natural, and has been used by infant sand pregnant mothers and diabetics for decades. A great guest on your show would be Ellie Phillips DDS author of the book “Kiss YOur Dentist Good-bye”. you can reache at Zellies.com

  3. I love how you started with orange juice. I have a feeling that “fruit” sugars probably are one of the most dangerous sugars because all something has to say is 100% fruit and people will allow it to replace servings of real fruit. If you take orange juice and boil it down to a thick syrup and then add water back, how many of the nutrients of the orange juice be left? Same thing goes with fruit leather, fruit chews, ect. Those aren’t fruit. Sugar cane isn’t inherently bad for you, it’s all of the processing. Yes, if it says 100% fruit it may be less processed but not as unprocessed as it should be. Many nutrients are heat and light sensitive. If you want orange juice squeeze an orange.
