When closing some windows, opens the doors…
We’ve been weaving in and out of this topic of how new technology and multi-tasking have taken a toll on our work, our lives, and the wiring of our brains. The experts have weighed in, but we wanted to talk to somebody who has been wrestling with this personally.
So Kathleen turned to John Besmer, creative director and co-owner of the uber-cool ad agency Planet Propaganda. (John sits at the far left of this photo with a few other creative gents from Planet.)
Why John? Read his hilarious blog post: Multi-tasking made me stupid (in which he describes his 30 window conundrum).
It starts like this…
“So I started writing this post exactly three hours ago. And three hours later, I ain’t wrote shit.”
(Does that sound familiar or what? That’s how I should have started THIS blog post.)
Kathleen talks to John about what he personally does to avoid distractions, keep the innovative juices flowing, and the work moving to the ‘done’ box. And since Planet Propaganda is responsible for designing creative campaigns for some of the most coveted clients in the country, John also shares how he approaches this issue as an employer of a team responsible for delivering inspired work under deadline. (Think foosball, skateboarding breaks and getting out of their way).
