Electromagneticwhat? The inside scoop on EMF (and why our cell phones might be frying our brains).
Cell phones, cell towers, laptops, wi-fi…we are being bombarded by unprecedented levels of electromagnetic fields every single day. What does all of this radiation mean to our bodies? To our children’s growing brains? And is there anything we can do to lessen the effects?
Professor Martin Blank talks to Kathleen about the overall health risks of EMF and steps we can take to minimize our exposure. In layman’s terms, he dissects this complex subject and addresses the often conflicting studies showing how all this radiation affects our cells and the potential for cancer and other diseases. While we can’t escape it completely, there are ways to reduce our risks. Professor Blank (who, by the way, does not own a cell phone) offers practical suggestions and precautions that could save lives.
Professor Martin Blank has been in the Department of Physiology and Cellular Biophysics at Columbia University for over 40 years. His most recent research has been on effects of EMF on stress protein synthesis and on ion and electron transport enzymes. He has worked for the US government, as well as industry, and has organized many scientific meetings, including two World Congresses on Electricity and Magnetism in Biology and Medicine, and the Gordon Research Conference on Bioelectrochemistry.
