An Emerging Epidemic? A Closer Look at Lyme Disease.
Did you know that Lyme Disease is a close cousin of syphilis? And that it may be the fastest-growing disease in the country? Fact is, Lyme Disease could be the most misunderstood, misdiagnosed and mistreated disease of our time.
With his new documentary, Under Our Skin, filmmaker Andy Abrams Wilson tells the hidden story of Lyme Disease, sharing the stories of some of those affected and shedding light on a health care system unable to cope. In this interview, he tells Kathleen about his personal connection to the disease (his sister and his friend), and how he hopes to help others find answers with this eye-opening, thoroughly researched film.
Founder of Open Eye Pictures, Andy is an Emmy-nominated producer, director and cinematographer. He holds a BA in social anthropology from Northwestern University and an MA in visual anthropology from USC, where he studied at the prestigious USC School of Cinema. Past productions include the HBO special Bubbeh Lee & Me, and Hope is the Thing with Feathers, broadcast on the Sundance Channel.
