Right here, right now: The power of being in the present moment.
Want to be more productive? More peaceful? Claudia Wallis talks to Kathleen about the pitfalls and inefficiencies of multi-tasking and the unexpected beauty of staying focused on one thing at a time. So stop bragging about how many things you can do at once. Based on Claudia's extensive research and writing, it turns out you're not doing anyone any favors, especially yourself.
Kathleen then shifts gears and coaxes Claudia down memory lane. She shares how she landed her coveted gig at TIME, her writing process, and how she navigates both sides of the push-pull-peace relationship between writers and editors.
Claudia Wallis is the Editor-at-Large at Time. She has been both a writer and editor specializing in stories about health and science, women's and children's issues, education and lifestyle. She was the founding editor of TIME for Kids, which debuted in September of 1995. Claudia has written more than 20 cover stories for TIME. Her writing has won citations from the National Mental Health Association, the Newspaper Guild of New York, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the Newswomen's Club of New York, among other organizations.
In 1990, she presided over TIME's special issue "Women: The Road Ahead", which won a special citation from the National Women's Political Caucus. Ms. Wallis graduated Yale University in 1976, summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, with a degree in philosophy.
